Two years ago, a chapter member moved to another state and left to the chapter his Pazmany PL-4 project. This airplane has "been around." As far as we know, it was never inspected to receive an airworthiness certificate from the FAA. As such, a builder completing it should be able to earn the repairman's certificate for the airplane. It likely was flown at one time.
It has had two N numbers with the FAA. As N44BR, it was part of a museum collection in North Carolina. A previous owner had the idea to convert it to a faster airplane, one with retractable main gear and a Wankel auto conversion. It appears to have been built with a side stick instead of the center stick in the plans. The fellow who donated it to us had partly disassembled the fuselage and fully disassembled the wing center section to begin returning the airplane to the plans configuration.
The project has all its parts, including the original, fixed main gear. Both outer wing panels are complete as is the empenage. The cowl and engine mount is for the Wankel conversion and will not be usable with the VW conversion for which the airplane was designed. New form blocks for the wing ribs are included, and many new internal parts of the wing structure are completed. The donor was working from plans owned by another chapter member.
The asking price is $3,000.
