ILLINOIS VALLEY CHAPTER 563
JUNE 1976
THE MAY MEETING WAS A REAL SUCCESS. LOTS OF QUESTIONS WERE ASKED OF DR. TORREY,
HARRY BARNES, JEWETT WASSON AND BILL LOVINS, WHO BROUGHT HIS PARTIALLY FINISHED
PDQ FUSELAGE AND WING PANEL. THIS WILL BE THE PROTO TYPE PDQ POWERED BY THE
VW ENGINE.
JOANNE SELKE, JOANN DE CROIX AND MRS. TORREY PROVIDED THE REFRESHMENTS WHICH
INCLUDED TARTER STEAK AND CHEESES AND ASSORTED HOMEMADE COOKIES. THANKS TO THE
LADIES AND A SPECIAL THANKS TO HARRY, JEWETT AND DR. TORREY FOR THE USE OF THE
BUILDING.
CONGRATULATIONS TO SCOT DECKER, SON OF ROBERT DECKER EAA 80255, WHO RECENTLY
SOLOED ON HIS 16th BIRTHDAY.
ALL FOUR OF YOUR CHAPTER OFFICERS ATTENDED THE REGION 6 CHAPTER OFFICERS MEETING
AT LOCKPORT-LEWIS AIRPORT ON MAY 15, 1976. REPORTS ON EAA ACTIVITIES WERE
PRESENTED BY PAUL POBEREZNY, GOLDA COX, JACK COX, MIKE HEUER, TRUSTEE HARRY
ZEISLOFT, EAA WASHINGTON REPRESENTATIVE DAVE SCOTT AND FAA-EAA LIAISON CHARLIE
SHUCK. WE ALSO HEARD FROM DIRECTORS RONSCOTT, DAVE YEOMAN,AND STEVE WITTMAN.
THE ALL DAY SESSION WAS VERY INFORMATIVE AND GAVE ALL THE CHAPTER OFFICERS AND
REPRESENTATIVES PRESENT A CLOSER RAPPORT WITH THE EAA HEADQUARTERS STAFF. WE
HEARD A LOT OF THE SAME MATERIAL ALREADY PRINTED IN THE PAGES OF SPORT AVIATION,
BUT TO GET TEHE WORD "STRAIGHT FROM THE HORSES MOUTH" GAVE ADDED EMPHASIS TO THE
HUGE TASK THAT CONFRONTS EAA IN ITS NEVER ENDING EFFORTS TO STIFLE BUREAUCRATIC
CONSTRAINTS AND PERPETUATE THE THE FREEDOM OF THE APORT AVIATOR. IT WAS CLEARLY
EVIDENT THAT WITHOUT THE SUPPORT OF THE EAA MEMBERSHIP, EAA COULD NOT CARRY THE
FIGHT TO THE BUREAUCRATS IN WASHINGTON, BUT WOULD BE FORCED TO SBMMIT TO THE
OVERWHELMING AND RIDICULOUS DEMANDS OF AN UNFEELING BUREAUCRACY. CONTRARY TO
POPULAR BELIEF, STUPID GOVERNMENT IS NOT ONE WORD.
GOLDA COX ANNOUNCED THAT THERE ARE 462 ACTIVE CHAPTERS IN EAA. CHAPTER 563 WAS
THE NEWEST CHAPTER REPRESENTED.
VIC DE CROIX AND GUY SNYDER MET WITH WADDELL AIRPORT MANAGER, MR. SCOTT URISH,
AND DISCUSSED HAVING THE JUNE MEETING AT THAT LOCATION. ME. URISH WAS VERY
RECEPTIVE TO US AND WELCOMED CHAPTER 563 TO "COME ON DOWN". THERE IS A LARGE
HANGER FOR THE MEETING PLUS SOME 5 HOMEBUILTS AND VARIOUS OLDER TYPE AIRCRAFT
ARE BASED THERE. THE MEETING WILL BE WEDNESDAY, JUNE 9, 1976, AT 7:00PM.
MOVIES (8MM) AND/OR SLIDES OF OSHKOSH ARE PLANNED. DON'T FORGET THE IDEAS ON
THE CHAPTER LOGO. WE WOULD LIKE TO HAVE SOME OF YOUR IDEAS TO VOTE ON AT THIS
MEETING SO WE CAN GET THE PATCHES ORDERED.
